Bangladesh is among the most densely-populated countries in the world, already vulnerable to natural disasters and highly-affected by climate change. Global climate change models show that declining and deteriorating forest cover significantly reduces the opportunity to mitigate climate change. Thus climate change could adversely affect forest ecosystems, biodiversity and even mitigation potential of forests. In addition to natural disasters and climate change impacts, the biotic pressure on natural resources in Bangladesh is very high.
